Maria Kanellis is getting set for a return to the ring this summer. This will be the first time she wrestled in WWE since 2010.
“The First Lady of Professional Wrestling” made her return to WWE alongside her husband Mike Bennett (Mike Kanellis) at last year’s Money in the Bank show and it seems as if Maria Kanellis is taking the first step in making her long-awaited return to a WWE ring.
She was recently backstage at Money in the Bank, one of her first trips to a WWE event since her daughter was born. She posted the following on her Instagram and mentioned that she will be returning to Florida at the beginning of August to fight for WWE TV time. There has been no word if she will be a participant in the Mae Young Classic II tournament taking place at Full Sail on August 8 and 9.

Hmmmm… mommy is ready to get back to work. Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of all ages come see the most talked about couple in wrestling prior to joining the greatest show on earth, WWE. Imagine what could happen if self made talent could meet the biggest marketing machine of them all? An over night success is when experience meets opportunity. A Superstar is when a talent meets WWE TV time. I’ll be down in Florida at the beginning of August fighting for that time. Even if I’m doing it with stretched out mommy belly skin and a baby on my hip. I don’t have a college education saved in the bank for my baby girl so momma has to go back to work. #unscriptedreality #themoon #backtowork #firstlady #milkmoney Just call me mommy the money maker!!
There is no doubt that Maria would be an excellent part of the women’s division. Assuming she will return to RAW, where Mike Kanellis is a member of the roster, she could feud with the likes of Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, Bayley, and Sasha Banks.
The last time the WWE Universe had seen Maria was on RAW 25 when she was honoured as one of the highlighted women along with a handful of other women. The last time Maria was on WWE programming on a consistent basis was in September 2017. She was pregnant at the show with the couple’s first child and their daughter, Fredrica “Freddie” Moon Bennett was born on April 4, 2018.
Maria Kanellis is a former two-time FWE Women’s Championship in Family Wrestling Entertainment, TNA Knockout’s Champion, and won the 2009 WWE Slammy Award for Best Diva. She was a finalist in the 2004 Diva Search and has been a valet for her husband for most of her career outside of the WWE.
